After a collision in BC

What to do, in order

  1. Check for injuries and call 911 if anyone is hurt, the road is blocked, or a driver leaves the scene.
  2. If it's safe, move to the shoulder and turn on your hazards.
  3. Swap names, licence and insurance details with the other driver, and take photos of the scene and damage.
  4. Call or text us with your location and where the vehicle should go.
  5. Report the claim to ICBC (or your private insurer) and keep our receipt with your paperwork.

This is general guidance, not legal or insurance advice. ICBC's own claims pages have the latest rules.

Why a flatbed

Gentle on a damaged car

A car that's been in a crash may have a bent wheel, a damaged suspension, or a bumper hanging low. Lifting one end and dragging the other can make that worse. On a flatbed the whole vehicle is winched up and strapped at the wheels, so the damage you arrive with is the damage the shop sees.

We clear loose debris from the vehicle's immediate area before we leave and carry the car to wherever you need it — including your own mechanic instead of the nearest shop.

Not sure where to take it yet? We can deliver it to your home and you can sort out the claim first.

FAQ

Accident towing questions

Do you bill ICBC directly?

You pay us at drop-off and we give you an itemized receipt to submit with your ICBC or private insurance claim. Ask your adjuster what your policy covers.

Can I choose which shop the car goes to?

Yes. We take it wherever you ask — your own mechanic, a dealer, a body shop, an ICBC claim centre or your home.

Do you tow from police accident scenes?

We tow once police or emergency crews have released the vehicle. Police-ordered tows and impounds are handled by the city's contracted company, not us.

Can a car with a flat or broken wheel be towed?

Usually, yes. Our winch pulls it onto the deck, and we use wheel skates when a wheel won't turn. Mention it when you call.
