SUV driving on a snowy mountain road

Winch-Out & Vehicle Recovery

Slid into a ditch, stuck on a soft shoulder, or spinning in snow? City Tow Truck uses the flatbed's winch to pull cars, SUVs and light trucks back onto solid ground across Greater Vancouver. If the vehicle is undamaged you drive away; if not, it goes straight onto the deck.

While you wait

Stuck? Stay safe first

  • Stop spinning the wheels — it digs the car in deeper and can overheat the transmission.
  • Turn on your hazards and, if it's dark, keep your lights on.
  • If the car is tilted or near water or a drop, get out on the high side and wait somewhere safe.
  • Text us a map pin. Rural roads in Delta, Richmond and the Fraser Valley can be hard to describe.

If the vehicle has rolled, is in water, or anyone is injured, call 911 first.

How a winch-out works

Pulled out, not dragged

We position the truck on firm ground, attach the winch line to proper recovery points on your vehicle, and pull it slowly back onto the road. Soft straps protect bumpers and suspension parts.

Once it's out, we check for obvious damage — bent wheels, leaking fluids, low-hanging parts. If it's not safe to drive, we load it and take it to your shop.

FAQ

Winch-out questions

How much does a winch-out cost?

It depends on how far the vehicle is from solid ground and how stuck it is. We'll ask a few questions and quote before we come.

Can you pull out a truck with a trailer?

Light vehicles only. For heavy trucks, trailers or large motorhomes you'll need a heavy-duty recovery company.

Do you go off-road?

We need firm ground for the truck. For vehicles deep on trails or logging roads, ask us and we'll tell you honestly whether we can reach it.
