Imported Vehicle Pickup & Delivery

Bringing in a car from Japan, the US or overseas? City Tow Truck picks up newly imported vehicles from port terminals, customs brokers and import yards around Greater Vancouver and delivers them by flatbed to your home, inspection facility or shop — no driving an unregistered car on the road.

How it works

From the port to your driveway

  1. Send us the release location, the vehicle and where it's going. A photo of the release paperwork helps.
  2. We quote the job and book a pickup that fits the facility's hours — many terminals close early, so tell us the cut-off.
  3. At the terminal or yard, we load the car on the flatbed. Right-hand-drive, low and non-running cars are fine.
  4. We deliver it to your home, a Designated Inspection Facility, your mechanic or storage.

Because the car is carried, not driven, you don't need temporary plates or insurance just to get it home from the port.

Paperwork such as customs, the RIV process and provincial inspection are handled by you or your broker — we look after the transport.

“I cannot thank you enough for picking up my Aristo from the port with such short notice. Another company had 24 hours notice and I still waited hours and hours and they canceled last minute.”

FAQ

Imported car pickup questions

Do I need to be there for the pickup?

Not always. Many facilities release a vehicle to the carrier with your authorization. Check with the terminal or broker and send us the release details.

Can you take it straight to an inspection?

Yes. We can deliver to a Designated Inspection Facility or any shop you choose so the car can be inspected before registration.

The car doesn't run. Can you still move it?

Yes — non-running and right-hand-drive cars are common. Tell us if the wheels or steering are locked so we bring skates.

How much does a port pickup cost?

It depends on the pickup location, the drop-off and any waiting time at the facility. We quote the total upfront.
